The Brecon Beacons

The Bear is on the Eastern Edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park and is part of a Wales and UK-wide historic coaching Inns network.

A Treasured National Park

We are proud to be ambassadors for the Brecon Beacons National Park, and we love telling people about the 520 miles of stunning countryside that surrounds us.

Grab your keys and visit the Big Pit mining museum, where you can go underground and experience the mine just as the coal miners did. Or, for a Jurassic experience, visit the dinosaurs and show caves at Dan-yr-Ogof. It’s all here on our doorstep.

Dark Skies

The Beacons are an International Dark Skies Reserve – which makes the stars a sight to behold. And there’s much more – with caving, climbing, paragliding, cycling, riding and boating on Llangorse lake on offer too.

Crickhowell

Enjoy the charming town of Crickhowell, winner of the Best High Street in Britain 2018 and Sunday Times Best Place to Live in Wales 2019.
